June Update #1

June Update #1

Proverbs 16:9 “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”

It is with mixed emotions that I type this, but at the same time I’m confident that the Lord knows exactly what HE is doing. I will be stepping down as the Director of Ministries at The Refuge. My family and I will be moving to another state where I have accepted a call to serve as the Program Director at a men’s residential facility where I will disciple men and point them to Christ who can give them victory over their drug and alcohol addictions. The method we will use there is the same method we use at The Refuge, the sufficiency of God’s Word and the power of the Gospel! My family and I are excited for this next step in our lives, but we are also very sad to leave behind everything that we’ve known and grown to love here in Iowa.

The Refuge is not a ministry that depends on any one man. Ben Funkhouser, the Executive Director, and the Board of Directors are committed to carrying on the mission and vision of The Refuge. I am truly excited to see how God will continue to grow the ministry after I leave because The Refuge is and always will be God’s ministry. The need to take the light of The Gospel to the darkness of addiction is an ever-growing need, Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” This is still a good word for us today! So, please don’t be discouraged or stop supporting The Refuge because of my departure. If you have any questions or concerns please email refugewinterset@gmail.com or message us on The Refuge Facebook page and we will be glad to respond to you. Blessings to you all!

Sincerely,
C.J. McMurry
