It has been an exciting couple of weeks at The Refuge! We signed a lease on a property for the men’s residential program on July 1st and everything has kicked into high gear. We have begun to make plans to furnish the house and make plans for other projects that need to happen before we launch the program in January. God has provided a perfect spot for the program and now we want to ask people in local churches to consider how they can help, either personally or corporately as a church, to provide donations to furnish the house. We are beginning the process of coordinating with various local churches to set up collection dates, as that info gets nailed down, I will pass it along. If you have donations you want to make before a scheduled collection date please email pictures of the potential items to me (benfunkhouser@gmail.com). If the items are things we could use I will arrange to pick them up. Donations do not have to be new by any means, but we are looking for donations that are of nice quality that you would want in your home. The Refuge reserves the right to humbly decline any donations that will not be useful or are not in good enough condition to be used. Men are coming to The Refuge for an intensive 7-8-month residential counseling program that will require much hard work, and we are committed to providing a nice home for them to live in while they are here. If you don’t have anything to donate but would like to contribute towards the project financially, you can donate at www.refugewinterset.com. Click “donate” at the top of the home page and be sure to designate your gift to “house furnishing project”. The Refuge is a 501c3 nonprofit so all cash donations are tax deductible.

If you are not able to help by providing donations, we are looking for people who would want to donate their time and abilities to help with several projects that need to be completed around the house. These projects include remodeling a bathroom, laying flooring in the upstairs bedrooms, painting, landscaping, and deep cleaning. Please contact Ben Funkhouser if you would like to know more about the projects that need done and the time frame for when they will be happening.
