Gospel Centered Recovery

Gospel Centered Recovery

Gospel Centered Recovery (GCR) is a ministry of The Refuge for local churches. GCR is a bible based support group for men and women who struggle with addictive sins of all kinds. It is specifically designed to be a ministry operated by local churches. GCR provides a place for men and women who have addictions (life-dominating sins) to come to be open with others while finding hope and encouragement from God’s Word. Currently, 3 churches in central Iowa have GCR groups.

A typical GCR meeting last for an hour and a half. It begins with 30 minutes of Bible teaching and after that, the large group divides up into men’s and women’s break-out groups for discussion of what was taught, accountability, and prayer.

The Refuge is committed to helping churches start at GCR group. If you would like more info on starting a GCR group please fill out the contact form on this page and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

The Refuge is committed to providing curriculum for GCR groups through the GCR Bible Study Series. The first edition, The Book of James-Where the Rubber Meets the Road, will be available for sale later this year. You can download a free 3-lesson sample below.

Gospel Centered Recovery, GCR as we call it, is for both men and women, and meets at the Redeemer Church offices every Thursday night at 6:30pm.  GCR provides a place for people with addictions (life dominating sins) to come and be open and transparent with others while finding hope and encouragement from the Word of God and the Gospel.  Matthew 11:28 says “Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” GCR is all about finding rest in Jesus and His promises.
