Look and Live

In December of 2014, I was preparing to go on vacation with my wife Holly.  Back then we only had one child, our daughter Emma, and we were going to leave her with my wife’s parents while we were gone.  One of the things I was looking forward to while we were on vacation was reading several books. The week before we left I got my hands on a book called Look and Live by Matt Papa.  Many people might…

March 2020 Update

Spring is fast approaching and as the seasons are changing we find ourselves about a month into a new season at The Refuge.  We began taking applications for our first residents in January and on February 10th our first resident arrived! It has been an exciting and busy month as we get settled into new routines and God has been very good and gracious to help us in this process.  We currently have 2 men in the program and God…

June Update #2

I will be stepping down as the Director of Ministries at The Refuge. My family and I will be moving to another state where I have accepted a call to serve as the Program Director at a men’s residential facility…

May update! God is faithful!

Luke 10:2-3 And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.” Please forgive me for the delay in keeping you all up to speed with our progress. We are still working hard in making The Refuge and our mission known to churches, our…

The heart of The Refuge

Isaiah 4:6 “There will be a booth for shade by day from the heat, and for a refuge and a shelter from the storm and rain.” The Refuge is so much more than a mere men’s ministry for drug and alcohol addiction issues. It is that, but it is also a place where discipleship will be the main method of bringing change into the lives of men struggling with various addictions. Our aim is to see men’s lives changed by…
